Banteay Meanchey, October 9, 2025 ÷ According to an official letter dated 8 October 2025 from the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Administration addressed to the Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, Kingdom of Thailand, the location currently disputed by the Sa Kaeo Provincial Administration is situated in Chouk Chey Village, O Bei Chorn Commune, O Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

The letter further emphasized that the aforementioned area has long been inhabited, occupied, and utilized by Cambodian citizens well before the entry into force of the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries.

In this context, the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Administration clarified that the temporary shelters established in the area were intended solely to maintain security, public order, and stability in the region following recent clashes, and to serve as defensive measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

Moreover, the administration reaffirmed that the gathering of Cambodian citizens in the said area is conducted exclusively for the purpose of protecting their legally owned land, rice fields, and property, and not for any other intention.
