Cambodia’s Health Ministry rejects false reports on death of Thai national
Phnom Penh, October 8, 2025 – The Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia has firmly denied reports circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms alleging that a Thai chef died after being refused medical treatment by a local hospital.
In a press statement issued today, the Ministry clarified that such reports are false and misleading. A thorough investigation by the competent authorities, including an official autopsy, confirmed that the 24-year-old Thai national from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province died of a heart attack and was never denied treatment by any hospital in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.
“The individual did not seek medical services before his passing,” the statement said, emphasizing that any suggestion otherwise is completely baseless.
The Ministry condemned the spread of such false information, noting that it damages the honor and integrity of Cambodian healthcare professionals and creates unnecessary confusion among the public both domestically and internationally.
Reaffirming Cambodia’s long-standing humanitarian commitment, the Ministry underscored that all healthcare workers across the country strictly follow professional ethics, providing care and emergency assistance to all patients without discrimination based on nationality, race, religion, or political beliefs.
“The Ministry of Health remains committed to achieving universal health coverage, ensuring that no one is left behind without access to healthcare,” the statement concluded.
