Kuala Lumpur, 8 September 2025 — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that he held a telephone conversation with H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul yesterday evening to congratulate him on his official appointment as the new Prime Minister of Thailand. The announcement was made through the Malaysian leader’s official social media channels.

In his message, Prime Minister Anwar described Mr. Anutin as “an old friend who has shared both joy and hardship with me.” He further extended an invitation for the Thai Prime Minister to undertake a working visit to Malaysia in the near future. The visit, he noted, would provide an opportunity to discuss key matters of mutual concern, including the strengthening of bilateral relations, developments along the Thailand–Cambodia border, and broader cooperation within the ASEAN framework.

In response, Prime Minister Anutin confirmed that his swearing-in ceremony will take place later this week and expressed eagerness to meet with his Malaysian counterpart soon thereafter.
