Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Ceasefire, Urges UN to Employ Good Offices Mechanism for Lasting Peace

New York, September 4, 2025 — His Excellency Keo Chea, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations, held a working meeting today with Mr. Guy Bernard Ryder, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Policy, to brief him on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict.
During the discussion, Ambassador Keo Chea underscored Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to the ceasefire agreement and emphasized the Royal Government’s determination to resolve disputes through peaceful means in full compliance with international law.
The Ambassador further called upon the United Nations to activate its Good Offices mechanism — a diplomatic tool by which a neutral third party facilitates dialogue, negotiations, or conflict resolution between disputing sides — in order to guarantee the effective implementation of a durable and long-term ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
