CPPCC, AIIB Pledge Strong Support for Cambodia’s Peace and Development
Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held separate meetings on August 31, 2025 with His Excellency Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and His Excellency Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus Summit in Tianjin, China.
During his meeting with H.E. Wang Huning, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Government and people of China for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. The two leaders expressed confidence that the fruitful outcome of the Prime Minister’s meeting with H.E. President Xi Jinping on 30 August, together with the consensus achieved during President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Cambodia in April 2025, would further consolidate the ironclad friendship and long-standing partnership for peace and development between Cambodia and China.
The discussion also touched upon the current situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border. H.E. Wang Huning expressed China’s strong support for the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement and encouraged the peaceful resolution of the border issue through bilateral mechanisms and in accordance with international law. In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia’s deep gratitude to China for its unwavering support in safeguarding Cambodia’s peace, stability, independence, and socio-economic development.
On the same day, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also met with H.E. Jin Liqun, President of the AIIB. Both sides discussed potential opportunities for financing major physical and social infrastructure development projects in Cambodia under AIIB’s multi-year program, reflecting Cambodia’s strong commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving the livelihoods of its people.
These meetings underscored Cambodia’s determination to further deepen its comprehensive cooperation with China and international financial institutions, with a view to delivering tangible benefits to the Cambodian people while contributing to regional peace, stability, and development.
