While many countries around the world lie along earthquake-prone fault lines, there are places where seismic activity is almost nonexistent. According to data, nations such as Belarus, Brazil, Cambodia, Chad, Ivory Coast, Latvia, Mali, and Nigeria are among those that experience very few, if any, earthquakes.

This stability is largely due to geography. These countries sit far from the edges of tectonic plates, where most earthquakes occur. For example, Brazil is located in the middle of the South American Plate, while Belarus and Latvia are deep inside the Eurasian Plate—shielded from seismic stress. Similarly, countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt are relatively distant from major fault zones, making them far less vulnerable compared to their neighbors.

Others, such as Ukraine and Uruguay, also benefit from being positioned in geologically stable regions. This makes them safer from the devastating earthquakes that frequently impact countries like Japan, Indonesia, or Turkey.

For travelers, investors, and residents, living in or visiting these countries comes with one less natural disaster to worry about—though, of course, each region faces its own unique environmental challenges.
