RGC Spokesperson: Cambodia Has Fully Respected Ceasefire Despite Numerous Provocations
Phnom Penh, 15 August 2025 – H.E. Pen Bona, Spokesperson for the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), affirmed that Cambodia has strictly adhered to the ceasefire agreement with Thailand, despite repeated provocations along the border.
“Up to this moment Cambodia has implemented the truce vigilantly and without any violation,” he stated. “The effective implementation manner is attributed to the Cambodian leadership’s desire for peace, high responsibility, and disciplined direction. The militaries and armed forces strictly adhere to the directive issued by the leadership, ensuring stability and order.”
H.E. Pen Bona made these remarks at 7:00 a.m. on August 15, 2025 during the daily press briefing on the “Implementation of the Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire” held at the Office of the Council of Ministers (OCM).
He further emphasized: “Our strength lies in two points. First, we have respected the ceasefire agreement thoroughly. Second, our armed forces are disciplined and strictly follow the orders of their commanders. These are the strengths that Cambodia has upheld until now and will continue to maintain.”
In addition, the Government Spokesperson noted despite various provocations, such as laying piles at the roadblock, installing barbed wire, shooting slingshots, and spreading false information along with provocative rhetoric and attempts at internal destabilization, Cambodia remains tolerant. The country maintains national unity and solidarity while resisting the temptation to retaliate or escalate violence, thereby safeguarding peace and stability.
