4:00 PM, August 12, 2025

Intervention by H.E. Pen Bona, Royal Government Spokesperson:

Before concluding today’s press briefing, I would like to reiterate the firm and clear position of the Royal Government of Cambodia as follows:

First, as a peace-loving country that respects international law and takes great responsibility for its words and promises, Cambodia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to respecting the ceasefire agreement in the special meeting in Putrajaya on July 28, 2025, hosted by Malaysia, co-organized by the United States of America, and with active participation of the People’s Republic of China that comes into effect at midnight on the same day.

Second, Cambodia reaffirms its firm commitment to fully respect every point of the 13-point outcomes reached at the extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee—the GBC—on August 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, in particular, the agreement to maintain their current troop deployments, including patrol toward the other side’s position. Cambodia urges Thailand to also fully honor its commitment to all these points of the ceasefire agreement with good faith.

Third, the border issue shall only be resolved peacefully through technical and international legal mechanisms, not through the use of force.

Thank you.
