AKP | Phnom Penh, August 10, 2025 –A total of 2,569 Buddhist monks from across the country gathered this afternoon at the Wat Phnom Cultural and Historical Site in Phnom Penh for a Peace Walk.

The walk proceeded along Preah Norodom Boulevard from Wat Phnom to the Independence Monument.

The event aimed to call for a sustainable ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, urge the Thai side to release the 18 captured Cambodian soldiers as both countries share the Buddhist faith, and appeal to the governments of both nations to maintain peace, safety, and stability for their peoples.

At a press briefing this afternoon, H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, described the gathering as a testament to Cambodia’s peace-loving spirit.

“The peace-loving hearts of Cambodian leaders and people, as well as those of the international community, are a strong foundation for sustaining the effective implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement,” he said.

He further emphasised that the agreement is being implemented under the watchful eyes of peace-loving countries, including the Interim Observer Team, diplomatic missions, and foreign military attachés—particularly the three nations that played key roles in shaping the agreement: the United States, Malaysia, and China.
