Press Briefing – Update on the implementation of the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand

Keynote Address by H.E. Pen Bona, Spokesperson for the Royal Government of Cambodia:
4:00PM, August 9, 2025
I would like to reaffirm once again about the unwavering commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia regarding the implementation of ceasefire agreement by avoiding at all cost any provocative acts.
Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect at midnight on July 28, 2025, Cambodia has been strictly implementing this agreement. I would also like to stress that this ceasefire agreement was reached under the initiative of His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, with Malaysia as host, and with the active participation of the People’s Republic of China.
Then, we had a positive 13-point outcomes from the extraordinary meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on August 7, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Cambodia has also been firmly implementing those agreed points, including organizing a mission of Interim Observer Team to the border area to witness them.
The strict implementation of this ceasefire is aimed at avoiding deaths and injuries to both armed forces and civilians, and at avoiding other damages to both countries caused by armed clashes. This is the greatest goal of our leaders who are the ones that put an end to the war, achieve peace, and safeguard peace forever.
