The Situation Along Cambodia-Thailand Border Remained Calm Amid Heightened Military Vigilance
Phnom Penh, August 4, 2025 — The spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has confirmed that, as of 06:10 a.m. today, the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border in the Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remains calm and stable, although Cambodian armed forces continue to maintain a high level of alertness.
During a press briefing held on Monday morning at the Office of the Council of Ministers, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, provided an update on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. She reported that from 12:01 a.m. until 06:10 a.m. on August 4, no incidents of violence or breaches were recorded along the frontlines in the aforementioned border regions.
“Starting from midnight August 4, 2025 up to 06:10 a.m. this morniing the situation at frontline along Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remained calm and steady,” H.E. Lt. Gen. Socheata stated. “Cambodian military arm forces stand strong and fully vigilance in fufilling their duties.”
The spokesperson reaffirmed Cambodia’s strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement concluded on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia. She emphasized that the Royal Government of Cambodia is fully committed to honoring all provisions of the truce, guided by a clear sense of national responsibility and the genuine political will to preserve peace.
“Cambodia remains full committed to respect and implement the ceasefire agreement achieved on July 28, 2025 in Putrajaya, Malaysia,” she said. “Through the determined transparent, censored, regorous and unwavering commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia and its arm forces, Cambodia continues to fully respect and implement all terms and conditions of the ceasefire agreement with the aim of steady recovery of the situation.”
The Ministry reiterated that Cambodia’s actions remain guided by a commitment to peaceful resolution, military restraint, and regional stability, especially in anticipation of the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) meeting scheduled for August 7 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
