Cambodia Reaffirms Peaceful Foreign Policy, Emphasizes Ceasefire as an Outcome of Its Commitment to Peace

Phnom Penh, August 3, 2025 — The Royal Government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace and non-aggression, emphasizing that the nation neither invades nor provokes any other country. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday morning at the Office of the Council of Ministers, Government Spokesperson His Excellency Pen Bona stressed that Cambodia’s actions are solely aimed at safeguarding its territorial integrity.
“As a peace-loving nation, Cambodia does not invade or provoke any country,” H.E. Pen Bona stated. “what Cambodia firmly upholds is its sivereign rights to defend its territorial integrity and to protect the honor and dignity against any form of invasion or disrespect.”
Reflecting on Cambodia’s modern identity, he affirmed: “As all Cambodians people deeply understand in their heart, peace is the identity of Cambodia under the leadership of ‘Samdech Techo-Thipadei’ era. Our leaders regard the peace achieved through Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s win-win policy as more precious than anything else, a rare and invaluable achievement for Cambodia in the pass 500 years.”
H.E. Pen Bona further emphasized that the recent ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, reached on July 28, 2025, was also the outcome of this enduring commitment to peace.
“In this regard, I’d like to once again emphasize to all compatriots that the ceasefire which officially took effect at mid-night on July 28, 2025 is the result of our leadership’s sincere commitment to peace, strongly supported by leaders of major peace-loving nations who share our values,” he said.
He added that the ceasefire has received international recognition and praise and is currently being monitored with serious attention by the international community. “The ceasefire agreement has been warmly welcomed by numerous world leaders and currently being implemented under the close and careful monitoring of the international community,” he mentioned.
The Royal Government of Cambodia reiterated its call for all stakeholders to respect the ceasefire and continue fostering an environment of mutual understanding and regional cooperation for the benefit of long-term peace and development.
