Bangkok, August 1, 2025 — In an official letter addressed to His Excellency General TEA Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia, the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Thailand has confirmed its agreement to the proposed arrangements for the upcoming extraordinary meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), scheduled to take place from 4-7 August 2025 in Malaysia.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence, General Natthaphon Narkphanit (Ret.), Deputy Minister of Defence and Acting Minister of Defence of Thailand, expressed appreciation for Cambodia’s cooperation on the proposed venue and the timeline of the meeting.

The letter further affirms Thailand’s acceptance of the proposal to include observers from Malaysia, as the current ASEAN Chair, as well as representatives from the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China. These countries have been actively supporting the GBC process since July 28, 2025. Their official participation is scheduled for August 7, 2025, the final day of the extraordinary meeting.

General Natthaphon conveyed his gratitude to all parties involved in the preparation of the meeting, with special acknowledgment to Malaysia for its exemplary coordination efforts. He expressed confidence that the meeting would yield a constructive, pragmatic, and fruitful outcome.

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of Thailand’s commitment to regional cooperation and mutual understanding in maintaining peace and stability along the border areas.
