Phnom Penh, July 29, 2025 – In a press conference held on Tuesday morning at the Peace Palace, Office of the Council of Ministers, Her Excellency General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia, affirmed that there have been no armed confrontations between Cambodian and Thai forces since the official implementation of the ceasefire at 24:00 on July 28, 2025.

“The situation has remained calm across all military zones with no exchange of gunfire,” stated H.E. Maly Socheata. “This is a result of a strong commitment and rigorous implementation of ceasefire efforts at all levels of leadership.”

This announcement follows the joint press release issued after the special meeting on ceasefire negotiations held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the afternoon of July 28, 2025. The meeting resulted in three key agreements between the Thai and Cambodian sides:

1. An immediate and unconditional ceasefire, effective from 24:00 hours (local time) on July 28, 2025.

2. An informal meeting of regional military commanders (Thailand’s Military Regions 1 and 2, and Cambodia’s Military Regions 4 and 5) scheduled for 07:00 on July 29, 2025. If mutually agreed upon, further meetings with ASEAN-led Joint Military Liaison Teams will follow.

3. A General Border Committee (GBC) meeting will be convened on August 4, 2025, with Cambodia serving as host.

The statement further notes that the foreign and defense ministers of Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand have been instructed to develop a detailed mechanism to implement, monitor, and report on the ceasefire. This mechanism is intended to serve as a solid foundation for long-term peace and accountability.
