Phnom Penh, July 27, 2025 — Cambodia has categorically rejected accusations made by Thailand alleging that the Cambodian military intentionally targeted civilian areas and hospitals within Thai territory.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Peace Palace on Sunday morning, His Excellency Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, firmly dismissed Thailand’s claims as deliberate distortions of the truth.

“In response to the Thai propaganda narrative—which reported that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to file complaints to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing Cambodia of violating international humanitarian law by attacking civilian areas and hospitals—Cambodia strongly denies these baseless allegations,” said H.E. Chum Sounry.

“I hereby categorically reject the unfounded accusations made by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The claims that Cambodia has indiscriminately attacked civilians and public facilities are intentional fabrications aimed at misleading the international community. Cambodia remains firmly committed to avoiding civilian targets in strict compliance with its obligations under the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.”, he emphasized.

Also speaking at the same briefing, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated that as of 6:00 AM today, Thai forces continue to intensify their incursions into Cambodian territory with increasing aggression.

“This clearly shows that the Thai side is disregarding the urgent ceasefire appeal made by U.S. President Donald Trump during a late-night phone conversation earlier today,” she added.

It should be noted that this marks the fourth consecutive day of Thai military incursions into Cambodia’s sovereign territory. The current escalation follows an initial Thai attack on Cambodian troops stationed near the Tamuan Thom Temple at 8:46 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025. In response, Cambodia exercised its legitimate right to self-defense under international law.

Cambodia reaffirms its commitment to peace and its adherence to international humanitarian standards, while firmly defending its sovereignty against foreign aggression.
