Prime Minister Hun Manet decries ‘invasion’

“On the morning of Thursday, July 24, the Thai military launched an attack on the positions of the Cambodian military at the Ta Mone Thom and Ta Krabey temples in Oddar Meanchey province and expanded the geographical scope of the attack on the Mom Bei area.

Cambodia always maintains a position of wanting to resolve issues peacefully, but in this case, we have no choice but to respond with armed force against this invasion.

The Royal Government of Cambodia, relevant ministries and provincial administrations, especially the Cambodian armed forces, have been and are actively and courageously carrying out their duties to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity and the supreme interests of our nation, both militarily and diplomatically, as well as assisting our fellow citizens affected by the Thai military’s invasion at this time.

We ask all our Khmer citizens to have confidence in the Royal Government and our armed forces who are standing at the forefront and defending our territorial integrity. Please remain calm and composed in your hearts and continue your daily work as usual.”
