Cambodian PM Reaffirms Five Key Points on Border Tensions with Thailand
Siem Reap, July 22, 2025 —Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has delivered a five-point message to Thailand in response to what he described as baseless accusations against Cambodia, including allegations of interference in Thai internal affairs, landmine placement, and threats of unilateral action in disputed areas.
In a statement posted to his official social media accounts this morning, Samdech Thipadei expressed concern over repeated claims made by Thai political figures, military officials, and media outlets. These accusations target Cambodia on issues such as meddling in Thai domestic politics, deploying landmines, and threatening unilateral moves in contested areas like the Mom Bei area and Ta Mone Thom Temple.
He emphasised that Cambodian institutions—including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of National Defence, and other relevant bodies—have actively responded to these accusations in order to protect the nation’s sovereignty and are preparing additional measures if needed to protect the supreme interests of the Cambodian people.
“I don’t need to make any more comments,” Samdech Thipadei stated, “but I would like to send a few short messages to remind the Thai side”:
1. No country has the right to take unilateral action in any disputed area where sovereignty has not yet been officially determined. Any action must be based on mutual agreement.
2. The red line is still the red line—and it must not be crossed.
3. Cambodia has never violated others’ rights, but it will not allow others to violate its own. Cambodia is fully capable and ready to defend its territorial integrity by all means.
4. Spilling blood to blame others is not a moral method. Such actions are counterproductive to building trust.
5. Cambodia remains committed to resolving the issue peacefully—in a swift, transparent, and sustainable manner.
