Mr. Jo Won-Yong, CEO of the Gyeonggi Tourism Organisation in the Republic of Korea, expressed strong interest in Cambodia’s tourism potential during a meeting with H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, on the occasion of the official opening of the 40th Seoul International Travel Fair in Seoul on June 5.

The two sides discussed strengthening tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Gyeonggi Province—Korea’s largest and most populous region.

Minister Huot Hak briefed Mr. Jo on Cambodia’s current political stability, economic growth, and strong public security. He also highlighted Cambodia’s diverse tourism offerings, including thousands of ancient temples, breathtaking eco-tourism areas, and golden sandy beaches—attractive to travellers of all ages.

Both parties agreed to explore the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalise tourism cooperation. The proposed partnership would promote people-to-people exchanges and foster a deeper understanding of each nation’s culture and traditions. Special focus would be given to tourism destinations with unique natural beauty and cultural heritage.
