Cambodians from across society—including the legislative and executive branches, political parties, armed forces, private sector, and general public—have expressed strong support for the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)’s measures in addressing the ongoing border dispute with neighboring Thailand.

The RGC’s position in resolving the issue includes pursuing a bilateral mechanism, invoking international law, and exercising the right to self-defense.

Through petitions, social media campaigns, and symbolic gestures such as custom photo frames, supporters have endorsed the government’s decision to refer the dispute over the Mom Bei area and the Temples of Ta Moan Thom, Ta Moan Tauch, and Ta Krabey to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Many see this move as a sign of political maturity and long-term strategic thinking by Cambodian leaders, who have demonstrated patience and resolve. The consensus is clear: Cambodia must protect its territorial integrity based on international law and recognition, while maintaining a soft, but not weak stance.

The first joint Congress of the National Assembly and the Senate, held on June 2, unanimously backed the government’s decision to bring the long-standing disputes over the four sensitive areas before the ICJ. The Congress also condemned the recent illegal attack by Thai troops on Cambodian soldiers in the Mom Bei area, located within Cambodian territory. It described the incident, which occurred on the morning of May 28, as a serious violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a strong show of national unity, citizens from across the country have contributed both financial and material support to Cambodian armed forces stationed along the border. Their Majesties the King and Queen-Mother each donated US$10,000, joining nationwide efforts to protect the motherland from external threats.

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet affirmed that while the government is fully capable of supporting the armed forces, public contributions serve as a “great encouragement to our troops.”
In a statement released on June 5, the Royal Government urges all Cambodians to approach this issue with calm and restraint, and to refrain from turning it into a matter of ethnic or nationalist sentiment. “We emphasise the importance of maintaining normal relations with Thailand, especially in trade, tourism, and broader areas of cooperation, for the mutual benefit of our peoples,” it underlined.
