Kampong Thom Governor continues to carry out the Prime Minister’s directive to prevent encroachment on state land in Zone 3

Nuon Pharath, Governor of Kampong Thom Province, led provincial and district working groups, along with experts, to inspect the land where illegal settlers are cultivating rice fields. This area spans over 2,000 hectares and is situated within flooded forest land in Kampong Kor commune, Kampong Svay district, Kampong Thom province.
The provincial governor urged all citizens dependent on dry rice cultivation in the cleared Zone 3 land to manage it properly and strictly prohibit any further encroachment on state land. If citizens witness any activities by unscrupulous individuals on Zone 3 land, which is designated as state land, they are encouraged to report this to local authorities for timely intervention.
He commended and highly valued the efforts of relevant institutions and competent authorities who have tirelessly worked to protect natural resources, ensuring that no one encroaches upon them. He called upon everyone to collaborate with the premier in the campaign to preserve natural resources for the sustainable development of the country.
Pharath stated that by strictly enforcing the premier’s orders to prevent encroachment on the land in Zone 3 near Tonle Sap Lake, thousands of hectares that had been encroached upon in the past have gradually transformed back into flooded forests.
