Khmer cuisines were under the spotlight at the ‘Cambodian Food Show’ held at the Cambodian Embassy in Japan.

Sin Saray, Commercial Attaché at the Cambodian Embassy in Japan led the team to organise the event, which also had various Khmer products on display.

A function was held to mark the event presided over by Tuy Ry, Cambodian Ambassador to Japan and Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary-General of the Asean-Japan Centre.

Around 100 people including senior government officials and private sector leaders attended the event.

The event aimed to broaden international awareness of Cambodia’s sophisticated and unique food culture and the countless legacies of thousand-year-old culinary heritage.

Its objective was to promote the Cambodian culinary diplomacy and expand the markets for Cambodian products in Japan, under the economic diplomacy strategy.

Also, on display was the ‘Taste of Angkor’ – the Khmer cookbook prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to boost cultural diplomacy.

A famous Cambodian chef from Lum Orng restaurant of Siem Reap province also performed a cooking demonstration.
