The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, has proposed the establishment of new flight connections between Cambodia and the Philippines, specifically targeting key tourist destinations in Cambodia, with the aim of enhancing both cultural and coastal tourism.

The Prime Minister delivered remarks on Monday at the Cambodia-Philippines Business Forum held in Manila, Philippines.

During this occasion, he articulated that Cambodia and the Philippines are actively collaborating to promote tourism and facilitate travel by increasing connectivity, which includes the potential renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism Cooperation for the years 2025-2028.

Hun Manet emphasised, “I have engaged in discussions with the President of the Philippines regarding the possibility of increasing direct flights along the Manila-Phnom Penh route, as well as investigating connections between Manila and Siem Reap, thereby linking key tourist destinations in both countries such as Cebu and Siem Reap. Furthermore, I have reached an agreement with Neak Oknha Kith Meng to extend an invitation to the leadership of Philippine airports to explore additional opportunities for strengthening air connectivity between Cambodia and the Philippines.”

On this occasion, he highlighted that Cambodia possesses a multitude of tourism experiences extending beyond Angkor Wat, which includes coastal attractions and numerous cultural heritage sites. He encouraged Filipino investors to collaborate with Cambodia in the development of its distinctive tourism sector, unlocking its vast potential and contributing to the economic growth of both nations.
