Ministry Hails Increase of Tourists Over The Weekend
At the end of the second week of December 2021, the growth of domestic tourists was higher than the previous week, with a total of 222,527 tourists, including 216,709 nationals and 5,818 foreigners.
The most visited destinations are as follows:
- Preah Sihanouk: 37,467 people
- Phnom Penh: 28,844 people
- Kampot: 27,041 people
- Kampong Speu: 26,525 people
- Pursat: 20,826 people
- Siem Reap: 19,163 people
- Battambang: 13,850 people
- Kep: 7,236 people
- Mondulkiri: 6,914 people.
The above figure increased by 22.93% compared to last weekend, noted Minister Thong Khon. Sihanoukville has become a top tourist destination receiving the most weekly visitors in the last three weeks.
The department of tourism and the capital-provincial administrations have been working actively to promote the implementation of tourism safety measures and SOPs in all tourism-related businesses, while the Ministry of Tourism is also monitoring the management of the three major tourist destinations: Sihanoukville, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh
Minister Thong Khon encouraged the private sector and tour operators to continue to improve their services, especially for the upcoming end-of-year holidays.
