China to Donate 400k More Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine to Cambodia
The Chinese government has decided to donate 400,000 more doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to Cambodia in contribution to supporting the Kingdom’s efforts in combating the pandemic.
The vaccines are expected to arrive in Cambodia by commercial flights at the end of this month, underlined the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Phnom Penh this morning. China has already provided a total of 1.3 million doses of Sinopharm to Cambodia. Cambodia has so far bought 1.5 million doses of Sinovac from China, and received 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD) via COVAX Facility. About 1 million people, both militaries and civilians, have been already vaccinated against the COVID-19.
In his recent special statement on COVID-19 situation in Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Sen said more vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic will arrive in Cambodia step by step, from April to August. Some 0.5 million doses of vaccines will reach Cambodia this month, then 1.5 million doses in May, 3 million doses in June, 2 million doses in July, and 1 million doses in August, he pointed out. According to the Premier, Cambodia would get up to 11 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this year.
