The construction of Morodok Techo National Stadium goes smoothly as planned despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in Cambodia.

The update was shared yesterday by Mr. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), adding that the construction has now achieved approximately 80 percent and is expected to finish in May 2021.

Mr. Vath Chamroeun continued that 12,000 seats for the main hall have been installed, as the 800 are being achieved a day; and there are some 40,000 to go until April.

The grass on the football field has been planted already, and other decorations, especially at athletic track run, are being accelerated, he added.

The construction of the Morodok Techo National Stadium started on April 4, 2017 under the auspices of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Being able to accommodate about 60,000 spectators, the stadium is expected to cost about US$160 million through the grant aid from China, and was primarily intended to host the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
