All Schools in Koh Kong Shut Down to Contain Coronavirus Spread
Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports this evening announced to close all public and private schools down in Koh Kong province.
The decision comes into effect from Mar. 13 until further notice, underlined the ministry in its announcement.
The move, made after the detection of community cases in Koh Kong’s Kiri Sakor district, is aimed to prevent large-scale community transmission of COVID-19 in the province, it added.
All concerned school institutions must adopt the online teaching and learning practices during this period, the announcement pointed out.
Earlier, the ministry has shut down all public and private schools in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, and Prey Veng, due to the growing threat of COVID-19 following the outbreak of community transmission called Feb. 20 Community Event.
As of this morning, Cambodia reported 1,264 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 751 are linked to the Feb. 20 incident. A total of 623 patients have so far recovered, with a death case.
