Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS) yesterday reached a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement for a one-year period (2021-2022).

This agreement was inked between H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC and Mr. SUENADA Noriyoshi, Resident Representative of JMAS in Cambodia.

According to CMAC, under the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, JMAS will support the “Reconstruction Support with Demining and Cluster-Disposal” projects with the total amount of US$682,250.91 for a one-year period (2021-2022).

The first project is for the reconstruction support with demining in Banteay Meanchey province and the second project for the reconstruction support with cluster disposal in Stung Treng province, it pointed out, adding that the two projects, supported by JMAS, also provide support to post-clearance community development such as agriculture training and small business developments for landmine/cluster munitions community.

This is the first year of the three-year period project (March 2021-February 2024), underlined CMAC.

H.E. Heng Ratana took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the people and Government of Japan and in particular H.E. Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia as well as JMAS management and staff for taking every efforts to ensure that these projects approved and started as planned to help Cambodian people although in the tough period of COVID-19 pandemic.
