The government has announced that the 7th River Festival is postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It said that the Kampong Thom provincial administration should begin preparations to host the next River Festival in 2022.

The 6th River Festival in Battambang province last year was held as scheduled despite fears over COVID-19.

Events at the river festival include traditional dance performances, food and product exhibitions and sports to promote home-made products and boost tourism.

Cambodian resident Chan Samnang said: “I attended the 6th River Festival in Battambang last year. It was fun with many events, but this year, I support the government’s decision to postpone the festival because everyone is afraid of the COVID-19 pandemic.” Khmer Times
