Physical infrastructure development projects in Cambodia have continued smoothly despite the COVID-19 pandemic which has been hitting the world, including Cambodia, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transports (MPWT).

While meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia Mr. Mikami Masahiro here this morning, Senior Minister and Minister of MPWT Mr. Sun Chanthol said the expansion and improvement project of National Road (NR) 5, the construction project of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway, the expansion and improvement project of NR2 and NR22, and some other infrastructure development projects are going smoothly even though the world as well as Cambodia have been facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Ambassador requested the senior minister to consider relieving the implementation of preventive measures for Japanese experts and technicians for the physical development projects in Cambodia.

In reply, Mr. Sun Chanthol pledged to submit the request to the Ministry of Health for consideration so that the Japanese experts and technicians can come to work in Cambodia without obstruction.

Mr. Mikami Masahiro praised the Royal Government of Cambodia for having effectively controlled the contamination of COVID-19 in the country.
