China, Cambodia look to deepen ties amid COVID-19 crisis
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday co-chaired the fifth meeting of the China-Cambodia Inter-government Coordination Committee with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong.
The meeting was held via video conferencing.
Wang said this year marks the 10th anniversary of China and Cambodia’s comprehensive strategic partnership and the first anniversary of signing the action plan for building a community of shared future for the two countries. In the face of the sudden COVID-19 outbreak, the relations between the two countries are growing stronger, he added.
China is looking forward to exchanging views on strengthening cooperation in various fields as well as international and regional issues of common interest in the context of the regular epidemic prevention and control, the foreign minister said.
At the beginning of the meeting, Namhong thanked China for providing Cambodia with free aid and concessional loans as well as importing Cambodia’s agricultural products, such as bananas and other crops. “We are grateful for the medical teams and medical equipment provided by China to Cambodia,” he said.
