PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Saturday (April 25) urged people to remain vigilant although the kingdom has detected no new cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) infections for the last 12 days.

“Although the infection rate of Covid-19 in our country has not increased strongly compared to other countries in recent days and more patients have been cured, we must be constantly vigilant because there are no specific medicines to treat this highly contagious Covid-19 disease,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.

“If not necessary, please do not leave home,” Hun Sen said.

He also encouraged people to wear face masks, to wash hands with alcohol or antibacterial hand gel frequently, and to avoid mass gatherings.

According to the prime minister, roads in capital Phnom Penh have been congested again after no new cases of the virus have been reported in the kingdom since April 12.

Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 122 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, with 110 patients cured, according to a Ministry of Health statement on Friday.

“The recovery rate for the Covid-19 patients in Cambodia stands at 90.16%,” the statement said. – Xinhua/Asian News Network
