Minister Chea Sophara Presides Over Ceremony for New Building
Minister Chea Sophara yesterday reportedly presided over a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a new Land Management Ministry building on a three-hectare plot of land in the capital’s Sen Sok district.
The ministry last week announced it will be relocating to the new premises next year because the current building, located in Chamkar Mon district, is too small.
It said the Chamkar Mon location will be handed to the municipal land management department.
According to a ministry statement, three-hectares has been allocated to accommodate a five-story building, a parking lot for 450 cars, an archives structure, sporting area, and labs.
“It will have a reception hall, a canteen and a garden in the center of the building,” it said, adding there will be a convention hall which seats 1,584 and small meeting rooms.
“It will show Khmer identity and represent Khmer architecture inspired by peace and stability during Prime Minister Hun Sen’s era. This type of construction is for the next generation,” it said.
Ministry spokesman Seng Lot declined to comment yesterday.
