Cambodia’s airports enjoyed a good 2019, with passenger numbers up by 10.2% at the country’s three main gateways – Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville.

A total of 11.6 million passengers passed through the airports last year as Phnom Penh handled a record six million passengers (+11.2%) and Sihanoukville 1.6 million (+158%), although traffic at Siem Reap dipped by 12.3% to 3.9 million.

Operator, Cambodia Airports, notes that passenger numbers at all three airports fell by 3.1% in the last quarter of 2019, leading it to predict that “passenger throughput should continue to grow in 2020, but a slower pace”.

The gateways are part of VINCI Airports’ global portfolio of 46 airports in 12 countries, which between them handled 255 million passengers (+5.7%) in 2019.

Elsewhere, in Japan, Osaka’s airports (Kansai and Osaka) handled over 50 million passengers and London Gatwick welcomed 46.6 million (+1%), while 30 million passengers used its Portuguese airport network.

Nicolas Notebaert, President of VINCI Airports and CEO of VINCI Concessions, said: “With its strong, efficient and attractive global network, VINCI Airports is a committed sustainable mobility player on the ground.

“In 2020 the company will continue to pursue its mission on behalf of regional development and its customers.”
