Outgoing Timor-Leste Ambassador Praises Cambodia as a Model Country for Peace-Building

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday morning December 30 allowed Felicidade de Sousa Guterres, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, to pay a visit on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic mission to Cambodia.

Assistant to the Prime Minister Eang Sophalleth told the media that the Ambassador, during the meeting, expressed her deepest gratitude and her honor for the medal of recognition from His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk.

She added that Cambodia is a model country where its good experiences in many fields, in particular peace-building, can be shared.

Peace, security, and stability are factors that have pushed Cambodia to move quickly toward development and attract more tourists and investors to visit and invest in the country, she stressed.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen told the Ambassador that Cambodia and Timor-Leste are developing countries and therefore, both need to share experiences with one another to promote cooperation for mutual benefits.

He continued that he was very pleased to see students from Timor-Leste study in Cambodia, experience-sharing sessions between the local and foreign students and exchange programs.
