Naga3 ‘creating more tourism’
Naga3’s improved design will see three uniquely shaped structures soaring into the skies of Phnom Penh, ensuring that it will be a high-quality resort complex in the region and helping Cambodia to create more quality tourism products.
The new $3.5-billion Naga3, will have one tower which is set to become the highest point in the city.
The resort complex will cover 544,801 square metres ( sq m) – Marina Bay Sand at 581.000 sq m ) , connected by a 13-storey podium incorporating a forest street on the 13th floor, recreational and pool areas, retail, restaurants, an indoor hi-tech theme park, huge meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) facilities, etc.
Additional gaming space is planned to hold up to 800 more gaming tables and 2,500 electronic gaming machines as some of the added features of Naga3.
Naga3, is designed by award-winning chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP ( SOM) that said the building itself has been split into three towers, each rising out of a common, porous podium. At the top, the towers are connected through an exclusive amenity with unrivalled views of the city and the river.
Steelman Partners who have worked on the design of both Naga 1 and Naga 2 and are well known as high-profile casino planners and designers shall continue to work on and improve the interior and functions of Naga3.
“Naga3 will be the most important landmark for the city in years to come. With the upmost point of the northern tower commanding an unrivalled view of the city’s skyline and surrounding districts. It will also be the highest point in the entire city of Phnom Penh,” SOM said.
“The $3.5 billion required for development will be 50 percent funded by the founder billionaire Dr Chen Lip Keong, and the remaining 50 percent via external funding options. We are also in advanced discussions with JW Marriott and Grand Hyatt to manage two of the towers “ said NagaCorp’s KC Chow.
In a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, NagaCorp said: “The third phase of expansion at its NagaWorld property in Phnom Penh will create the largest riverine integrated resort in the world, overlooking the Mekong River in Cambodia.”
NagaWorld has more than 25 years of business operations in Phnom Penh and currently consists of some 1 million square feet (about 93,000 sq m) and approximately 1,500 suites and deluxe rooms.
In addition, the resort will also have an all-suite luxury spa, duty-free shopping gallery, 19 food and beverage outlets, extensive entertainment services and premium meeting spaces with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as one of the country’s largest hotel convention spaces that can accommodate more than 3,000 delegates.
“The Naga 3 project will showcase a lifestyle product consisting of gaming and non-gaming spaces and comprise amenities and facilities that are not available at Naga 1 and Naga 2, notably hi-tech virtual reality interactive indoor theme parks, more shopping, MICE facilities and family recreational areas among others, to impart a more satisfying, penetrating and complete visitation experience,” Chow said.
