Classes in Banan District Suspended Due to Border Security Situation
The Battambang Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport has announced the temporary suspension of teaching and learning activities in Banan district, Battambang province, citing the security situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
The decision follows the current developments along the border, guidance from the Battambang provincial administration, and instructions from H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports.
In an official notice issued this afternoon, the Provincial Department of Education informed school management committees, teachers, education staff, parents, and students that due to incursions by Thai military forces into areas of Banan district, starting from Dec. 24, all educational institutions in the district are permitted to temporarily suspend teaching and learning activities until further notice.
The suspension aims to ensure the safety and security of teachers, education personnel, and students, and to prevent potential risks arising from the current situation.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, Banan district was bombarded twice by T-50TH fighter jets today. The first time was at 10:00 a.m. with four bombs, and the second time at 2:02 p.m. with one bomb.
