Thai Minister of National Defense confirms that Prime Minister Hun Manet did not call to apologize for the incident at Tambon Thom, as some Thai media outlets have reported.

His Excellency Phumtham Wechayachai, Minister of National Defense of Thailand, has rejected a local media report that said, “The Cambodian Prime Minister apologized after a group of Cambodians caused tension by singing patriotic songs at a Thai temple near the border.”

The Thai Minister of National Defense added, “The media misreported his statement about Prime Minister Hun Sen’s response to the incident at Tambon Thom.”

A statement from AKP added ‘So please be aware and do not be confused in any way. Cambodia does not need to apologize, including the Prime Minister. The Thai Minister of National Defense has made a clear statement, which is not what the media has reported.

Cambodia continues to maintain friendship with neighboring countries, standing on clear sovereignty, a strong stance based on the law, and clearly and absolutely protecting its territorial integrity.’

At the same time, the Prime Minister announced yesterday that “Cambodia will conduct border work based on technology and law, but also has every right to defend the nation and defend its territory by using force if there is an invasion.”
